Transcreation at comtexto
Translate and write creatively at the same time
The German term “Transkreation” (composed of “Translation” and “Creation”) is still relatively recent. It originally comes from the advertising industry.
Transcreation is the cultural adaptation or recreation and localisation of texts, taking into account the specific cultural context. The source text is first analysed and deconstructed. The text is then creatively rewritten for the target audience in the target language. The focus is on conveying the core message rather than on producing a 1:1 translation.
