The TM is a translation memory. Everything that has previously been translated is stored in this system in a structured way. It serves firstly as a source of reference that allows translators to search for translations they have already completed. Secondly, the program uses the translation memory to search for phrases with a given minimum match level that it then suggests as translations. The suggestions can be accepted, adapted or rejected by the translators..

It serves as a glossary. If stored terms appear in a translation, the program displays the relevant database entries. The translators can then adopt the terms or choose not to, depending on their needs.
